September 2009 Boating

Well the boating season is over and we are finally posting the last few trips of the summer of 2009. We were able to travel a bit each weekend in September but October was not boating weather.
First up was a quick trip to Pentwater Thursday evening before Labor Day.

Full moon over Pentwater!

A nice liesurely trip up the Pentwater River.  Nice Friday to have off!

And look who showed up behind us in our slip on Friday, our friends  Mike and Sherry aboard Bearinit.  Matt and Nancy aboard Our Cottage also docked a few slips away on the wall at Snug Harbor.

Left Pentwater on Saturday morning to attend the Skipper Buds raft off.  Nice smooth water again!
Upon arrival at raft off, Brett and Adam had to take a swim!

The Hand off!!

Nice evening rafted off in Spring Lake. Note the full harvest moon in the background.

Carvey, the general manager of Skipper Buds starting off the festivities on Sunday.  Biggest crowd ever!

Great sponsor in the upper right!

A good time was had by all!

Next up was a trip to Saugatuck, Coral Gables marina the weekend after Labor Day. Smooth water!

Gee the story of our boating summer!!

Private slips to the NW of Coral Gables were left empty all weekend.  The rest of the marinas were all full for a great summer weekend!

Ahhh, a little relaxation!

Next up was the Grand Haven Salmon Fest on the 19th of Sept.  Another great weekend.  We were lucky enough to get a slip at the GH Municipal marina for the weekend so our trip was all the way accross the river from our marina. We didn't even need a float plan!!! We left the slip for a sunset cruise before dinner.

The Durams enjoying the cruise, a needed break from football!

The payoff!!!  Beautiful early Fall evening.

The last overnight trip of the season was just to Dockers in Muskegon.  We spent the night tied to their dock as it was the last night for business for the season.  Took a nice walk on the breakwater in the morning before heading home to Grand Haven.

We had a wonderfull summer of boating.  It was a little cool all summer (except that weekend in Chicago) but the water was almost always smooth for our trips.  We only had one day all summer that our lake Michigan activities were cancelled due to waves.  Looking foward to another great summer in 2010!!
